Finding yourself single can be an experience that allows you to grow, but when you’re over 50 it can feel like you fell into a deep rut. And, if you’re a woman, the cards seem to be stacked against you.

Almost half of the women over 65 are living alone, compared with the one in six men living alone.

Older men are almost twice as likely to be married, as compared to older women.

And, the dating game rules have changed drastically from way back when, like in the 1950s and 1960s! Today, grandmas are buying condoms right along with their false teeth cement! Grandpa ponders about if he should hold the door for his date, or let her open the door for him.

Entertainers, such as Tony Bennett and Cher, suggest that we’ve all got comeback opportunities. But, when you’re over the big 50 and just an average ‘Joe,’ that theory is put to the test. senior dating

You might be surprised, but by the looks of things, several dating websites are frequented by seniors. Do a Google search for senior dating websites, and you’ll find there are more than 21,000,000 out there for your viewing pleasure!

Dating services can provide lots of entertainment, and keep your ‘date book’ filled. But, you might be expected to pay your own way for a night on the town, be forced to hear some old codger call you silly names, like “cutie pie” or “baby doll” only because he can’t remember your name! Or, you might wind up with one of those boastful, motor-mouthed men that tell you all about how he’s pumped up with Viagra, and is ready to give you a night to remember. But, many just want to get you in their bedrooms, whether they can perform or not, the story will be enhanced for the highlight of the clubhouse chit-chat, the next day.

The real deal with older men, in my experience, seems to be that they never listen, talk about nothing but themselves, and some even fill the evenings conversation about their ex-wives! So, there’s little wonder why so many men are popping Viagra and still not getting lucky!

Personally, I think men are absolutely necessary. If they weren’t, why did God create dresses that zip up the back?

If you believe the tons of spam that finds its way into your email box, almost every man and woman between 50 and 90 are finding their dream dates online. I’ve read emails from dating services, and all of them have drop dead gorgeous hunks to offer. Pictures of pot-bellied men straddeling a Harley, or bra-less women wearing a tube top meant for a 16 year old! Or, a man posing with his trusty remote in one hand and a beer in the other. And, how about those over 60 women doning thong swimsuits, that no one over the age of 25 should wear? All these, and more, congregate on the computer screen, for your eyes only. senior sex

The questionnaires required by many dating websites, are difficult for seniors to answer truthfully. Like, how many 60 year olds can actually say they are into contact sports, sky diving, or rock climbing? Well, of course, there might be some seniors that do these activities, but for the majority of us – I think not!

And, then there’s the questions about income. Exactly how many of us are going to admit that we’re living on pennies, or that we have unlimited streams of money? And, if we do, why would we want to put that out there on the Internet? High ranges of income, most likely will get you noticed, but do you want to be noticed by potential con-artists?

Almost all the dating websites promise to hook you up with someone bubbling over with money, love, sex, and the moon! Personally, I’ve dated a few of these ‘wonder’ men, and found they were looking for a free ride, financially. A few turned out to be boring and liars! One turned out to be homeless, horny, and just looking for oral sex! Some had serious illnesses and really wanted a caretaker. But, in all fairness, some were actually nice guys.

Many men think they’re really doing you a favor by asking you out. And, most of these men think they rank 9 or 10 on that sex chart, but you, well you are only about a 3 or 4. Just as many actually think older women only need a warm body in their beds, or someone that doesn’t miss the toilet bowl, too often.

If men would just stop thinking they’re so damned important. From teens to seniors, society instills the concept that men are the unchallenged sexual mascots of all time. Not exactly true. Women can have delightful and mind-blowing sexual fulfillment without a man in sight. With the many adult shops and online websites that offer interesting and erotic stimulating sex toys, women can and do enjoy explosive orgasms, multiple orgasms, with no help from men.

This is not to say that the ‘real’ thing is less than satisfactory. It’s just that the ‘real’ thing is not necessary or required. However, I’d be the first one to stand up, waving my hand, if an older man, capable of real passion was up for bid.

I’m sure they must be out there. Perhaps, they are few and far between. Or, could it be that all the good ones have been taken?
