Make your own booklet of gift certificates customized for the recipient. For a spouse or significant other, you’d make certificates for hugs, back rubs, kisses, a favorite meal and dessert. For an elderly parent or favorite neighbor, you could make certificates good for a meal at your house, yard mowing, or a day of taking them to run their errands.

Have a day time trip. Pack a lunch, jump in the car and head out. Check out flea markets, collectible boutiques or a museum or library. If it’s chilly outside, walk around a shopping mall and window shop. Just make certain to not make a lot of impulse buys and blow your budget!

Give your lover a letter and tell them all the reasons you adore them. Share a number of your favorite memories of moments the two of you’ve shared together. Write the letter on pretty stationery or a piece of scrapbook paper decorated with hearts.
