Being shy can dent our chances of dating the girl we fancy quite a lot. Like what people always say: taking that very first step is the most difficult. For shy guys going after girls, that very first step is about how we should start communicating with the girl. A lot of problem can end up being easier to solve if we can understand the problem at hand well enough. In this case, we need to understand partly about what a girl likes in a guy and also how we can take steps to overcome our shyness. Here are some tips at hand to help you out:

1. Know that girls like guys who are confident, thought not over-confident in a cocky sense. Whether you are short, or thin, or even ugly, do not let these physical features make you feel lowly or disadvantaged. Have you seen short guys dating taller women? Don’t you think they look confident and are worthy standouts from what is the norm? Would you rather be one of them or just the other guy lurking in a corner looking? We can’t change much about how we look, but we can certainly upgrade our mind to be more confident about ourselves!

2. Girls like guys who have a plan in mind, and who exercise spontaneity in action. This means girls like guys who knows where he wants to bring her, and what he wants from her. The guy would not try hard to want to please her. Girls like surprises, and the guy who can set her loose without worrying too much about wanting to please her will certainly leave a deep impression in her heart.

3. Develop a cheerful disposition and be friendly to people around you. Get sociable with everyone! This is a step towards building your self-confidence. You would be surprise how much easier it is for you to chat with girls next time round when you start getting more sociable and friendly with people. Girls like guys who are friendly, cheerful and are sociable, as opposed to introverts. Bring the sunshine to them and they will develop a good initial impression of you. This has to do with developing a pleasant personality, it will make you seem more approachable without having to be really handsome!

4. Practise chatting with any other girls around you. Start asking directions from the information counter lady at a shopping center, asking where you can find a book in a library. Start chatting more with other girls and when you finally meet a girl you fancy one day, it would become second nature for you to start talking with her.

5. Ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen to you should you fail in your first step chatting with the girl. Are you going to die? Or are you going to lose everything you have if you fail? Chances are, you’ll still be in one piece and be able to do better the next time you have to start chatting with her. Know that even if things fail, it can also fail for any men. Not just you!. Things are not too bad after all! You even gain something out of an unsuccessful venture – EXPERIENCE! Failure is the mother of all success. You will move on to your next target with a better start.
