The “Beggar” message: where the following words are: “Alice, please, please give me a call. This is the 3rd time that I’m asking. I NEED to speak to you.”

And the “911″ message: “Cindy, it’s an emergency. Please call me once you get this. “

Now, I believe that you can see what the problem is with these two approaches.

Use her self-interest and curiosity to your advantage. Two of the strongest forces of the human mind are curiosity and self-interest. And here’s the biggie! By combining the two, you will have a recipe that will work like “magic”.

Here are a few suggestions on what can be said, it works almost every time. Say the following in a friendly tone: “Hello, Alice. It’s John. I just wanted you to know, that I appreciate what you did for me. Call me because I would like to thank you personally.”

Do you see how these words are used to peak both curiosity and interest?

Alice will be itching to know “What did I do?”, “What does he appreciate?” She will be mulling this over. And John feels good because he left a positive message.

Now then, before you call, you need to have “laid the foundation”. Have it all figured out on what she did that you actually appreciate. It can be any tiny thing, but make it plausible. But the most important of all is that you must have a strategy before you pick up the phone.

If you use this technique without a plan or a strategy and she calls you back, you would have considerably damaged any chance of healing the relationship altogether. What I’m trying to say is this: What you do before, during and after she returns your call is far more important than just convincing her to call you back. So have a plan!
