Getting Your Lover Back After An Affair – Restoring Trust In A Relationship
How do you go about getting your love back after an affair? Many people are of the opinion that an affair destroys trust in a relationship and therefore should always sign the end of it. But I tend to think that this attitude is brought about by visions of chronic jealousy, suspicion and fears of domestic violence.
If both parties in the relationship want to stay together for reasons of love rather than revenge and really want to work at it, there should be no reason why they should not stay together, reconstruct their relationship, and live happily ever after.
Trust is usually the thing that is lost after one of the partners admits to a liaison. Restoring trust in a relationship requires a change in attitude and behavior. It is possible to rebuild trust between a couple with patience, love and understanding.
If you have had an affair, there must have been a cause that allowed you to stray. There might be something at the heart of the relationship that is negative and still rankles. This must be put right as quickly as possible.
What were you seeking when you strayed? Was the sex boring? Did they not have enough time for you? Did they take you for granted, and not put any effort inthemarriage any longer?
You wouldn’t have had an affair if the basic relationship was perfect. So, what needs to be done to put things right? Perhaps you should sit down and talk
about things honestly, without handing out blame, and identifying the problem.
But just understanding our thoughts isn’t enough. We must take positive steps to redress the problems. The secret to restoring trust in a relationship lies not in just talking about the right things, but also in doing the right things.
Start off by making small promises and keeping them. If you promise to do something regularly, do it. And, do it consistently. When you demonstrate that you can be trusted in the small things, gradually a sense of confidence will appear in the larger picture of the relationship.
Your partner is going to need constant reassurance that you have changed. This means that you will need to express regret more than once. You will also need to treat the repeated comments about the breach of trust as a matter of course. It is not easy for them to forgive your transgression. If you want to stay with them, you must be tolerant.
This does not mean that you must live under a cloud of guilt for ever. In fact, if you allow them to constantly guilt trip you, they will not be happy with the new relationship you are building. Just be understanding.
Finally, you need to create a positive outlook. Treat the incident as an opportunity for both of you to grow as individuals and for the relationship to mature. restoring trust in a relationship takes time. winning your ex back after an affair is going to take conscious effort and a lot of patience.
